The trick is to ignore what the image is actually about. It's not a painting of a fishy doing the unspeakable to a kitty. It's an image which demonstrates texture, form and composition. The image is one which captures a certain feeling, a mood, maybe a depiction of what the artist believes are the simple pleasures of life? It could very well be, the cat, is not a cat at all, and the fish.. well not a fish. They could simply be symbols of modern life as we see fit. There's also a plen-air feel about it. A simple composition and technique exists to which the eye is led directly to the where fish meets cat. A classical mathematical composition could also be assumed. The main body of the cat being balanced by the background shadow, the bowl coinciding with the table, the head of the cat balanced by the fish. Well... that's what I told the local law authorities who seized my computer and questioned me about this, and many other images which mysteriously appeared on my hard drive...
